Distinct yet Cohesive
The guiding theme for this powder room was ‘Faith is steadfast’, with the client offering creative freedom to deliver a clean and simple aesthetic, says Kiran Sonpal, Principal Designer, Kiran Sonpal Designs.
“The primary design challenge was to establish a cohesive narrative that seamlessly merged the powder room with adjacent spaces—a pet pool and a utility area—while maintaining a distinct identity for the guest powder room,” she shares.
A harmonious design approach unifies these spaces while preserving their unique identities. The project embraces a vibrant yet understated colour palette, delivering a balanced and timeless aesthetic.
Design Concept and Execution
The design celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the practical elegance of multifunctionality. A continuous floor plan reinforces fluidity and connectivity, enabling the powder room to function beyond its conventional role—doubling or even tripling its usability while remaining faithful to the client’s brief.
At the heart of this project lies a deep appreciation for artistic expression and thoughtful detailing. “The powder room’s focal point is an inviting arched marble backdrop, which creates a striking visual anchor. This is complemented by a bold black basin framed by a delicate pink glass border surrounding the mirror. The clever play of colours and textures generates an optical illusion, adding depth and dimension to the space,” illustrates Sonpal.
The overall design balances simplicity and sophistication, with curated details that elevate the humble powder room into an experience. “The resulting space is a reflection of the client’s vision—functional yet expressive, cohesive yet distinctive, and imbued with a sense of timeless oneness,” asserts the designer.
