Patricia Urquiola Creates a Premium Bathroom Series, ‘Balcoon’

Balcoon, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is a new bathroom series that explores the intersection of geometric clarity, material depth, and everyday utility. Developed for the mid-price segment, it combines ceramic objects, furniture, bathtubs, and faucets into a cohesive architectural language rooted in layered compositions and warm, earthy tones.

A consistent two-level design language runs through the series, from countertop and wall-hung sinks to toilets, bidets, and integrated furniture units. The ceramic pieces are available in White, White Satin, and Clay Terra Matt, with a focus on tactile finishes and clean surfaces enhanced by DuraShield glaze, which provides antibacterial protection and ease of maintenance.

Furniture elements offer modular storage with asymmetrical drawer arrangements and open shelving, supported by options for fluted or matte decorative surfaces. Mineral consoles come in three structured finishes: lava, basalt, and concrete.

The built-in acrylic bathtubs follow the same two-level principle, with a raised edge doubling as a splash guard and additional storage ledges.Faucets complete the series with cylindrical forms and are available in chrome, black matt, and brushed stainless steel, all featuring energy- and water-saving technologies.

Balcoon is suited for both private residential bathrooms and project-scale applications like boutique hotels or wellness spaces where design consistency and long-term durability are key.
