This sophisticated and elegant washroom design transforms the utilitarian space into a relaxing and refreshing space. The uniqueness of the design lies in the amalgamation of all these functions into a single room without making it jarring but rather a novel trend.
Design Brief
The washroom is designed with the brief to accommodate not only washing and bathing facilities, but also a beauty salon and a spa. The luxury of having a personal stylist demanded for a separate space for hairdressing and make-up. The spa includes a sauna, Jacuzzi and a massage room. It has been designed as a unisex space to allow all the family members in the residence to utilise.
The Layout
The sauna and spa are oriented along the southern side, while the salon, shower cubicle and WC are on the opposite side. The dressing unit is specially designed for bridal grooming with the basin specifically placed next to it. The massage table opposite to the dressing unit completes the transverse part of the space. The layout is space efficient and focused on functionality, making a central space that allows ease of movement.
The Concept & Design
The central space open to the skylight is the node, serving both ease of movement and the balance of space. Fixtures are provided to accommodate all the needs resulting in a clutter-free, orderly ambience.
Skylight brings in an ample amount of natural light and a split air conditioner has been used to regulate the room temperature. The skylight also serves as a real-world tether, adding a touch of reality to the space. The ample artificial lighting for make-up is provided with a stroke of subtle drama.
The neutral shade palette provides a calming effect; the colour reflects the inclusive nature of the space, making it a space of relaxation for all members of the family. The varying shades of brown add a tone of the symphony.
