Breaking the Gender Stereotype

These washrooms belong to a brewery called ‘Over the moon brew company’. The concept of the bar revolves around taking inspiration from European street cafes and quirking it out hence the washrooms are an extension of the same idea.

“The colourful floor and the accessories, the mirrors shaped as windows and the muted walls bring the effect we wanted. My favourite part of the washroom though is the gender-break statement we made by having the men’s room door in pink and the ladies’ room door in blue! A lot of appreciation has come our way for this small gesture,” says the designer.

The brewery is spread over 2 floors and these washrooms are on the ground floor. ‘Timeless’ was the brief given to the designer by the client who is a seasoned restauranteur in Hyderabad. “The washrooms also follow through with the same design sensibilities – the colourful floor is our take on the grey cobblestone streets in Europe, the grey wall tiles bring the subtle note to balance out all those colours and the windows in metal that we turned into mirrors zing out the design. The urinalysis partitions also are actual old wooden windows fixed in between for privacy. A ‘sheriff’ door leads to the corridor from where you enter the washrooms. Every door colour is also different to add the element of fun,” informs Ameet.
