Unfinished and Rustic
The bathroom belongs to the daughter of a family who resides in the US and is pursuing filmmaking. “A simple brief mentioning that she doesn’t like finished/elite spaces and rather prefers a more organic/rustic space consisting of old elements and unfinished surfaces lead us to design an unfinished and rustic bathroom for her,” shares Rahul Mistri, Principal Architect, Open Ateliers.
The materials, therefore, were selected carefully to depict the same theme. The walls are finished in Lime based Plaster with marble chips. The wall is then painted by an artist with a portrait of the daughter residing in the house. The painting was done on-site and 3 coats of sealer were applied to seal the surface to protect it from dampness, moisture and leakages.
The flooring is micro concrete and finished with 3 coats of sealer. The vanity counter is fabricated in metal and a wooden basin is mounted on it. The WC is an old-style entry-level design selected in green and is combined with a wooden finished seat cover. The bathroom’s shower cubicle corner has full glass to allow visibility into the bathroom when not in use and to create an illusion of a larger space in the bedroom.
